JG LINE DANCE MARATHON, JUNE 2-5, RALEIGH, NC    https://jgmarathon.com/marathon11.html
 WORDS FROM THE ORGANISER:
Jean Garr (jg) is the event director for one of the most popular dance weekends of the year, The Line Dance Marathon. Join Jean, along with her co-director, Adele Plantamura, at the next event held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center in Raleigh-Durham (June 2-5, 2011) for four non-stop days and nights of fun.
The Marathon weekend certainly lives up to its name, packed with over 90 free workshops, 45 paid workshops, 14 hours of daytime open dancing and 3 ballrooms of non-stop dancing each night that lasts until all hours of the morning. This year's list of invited instructors includes many of your favorites and some new faces that you haven't met before. Each year jg strives to make the event better than it was the year before, but after 17 years there is not much room left for improvement for the 18th annual Line Dance Marathon.
Conveniently located near the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) with complimentary shuttle service from the airport to the hotel, you won't have a hard time getting to the Marathon. The hotel has a lobby bar which is a favorite hangout for the instructors and dancers to socialize with each other. There is a sit down restaurant with a wonderful buffet and a handy snack/coffee shop for quick bites between workshops. The warm weather in Raleigh makes the outdoor pool and hot tub very inviting to relax in and rest your tired feet.

The party starts on Thursday afternoon with the Thursday New Teaches (TNT). The Marathon breaks from tradition for one day only and lets the instructors teach dances other than their own in order to bring you what they feel is the best of the top 20+ dances from workshops all over the world. There will also be workshops teaching only easy beginner dances. Get a jumpstart review of the dances that will fill the dance floors each night in open dancing but don't tire yourself out too much because Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be filled with new dance workshops taught by the choreographers themselves. Some of the year's best new dances will be introduced at the Marathon!
You won't want to miss the Saturday night show, short but very entertaining. We know you want to get out there and dance so we won't make you wait long. Don't forget to pack your outfit for the famous Saturday Night Costume Parade Party, you haven't experienced a party like this one anywhere else. Each year the dancers outdo themselves with innovative and creative costumes, you never know what to expect next. Saturday night at midnight they will transform themselves into this year's theme, 'Got Game?'

Interested in competing your own choreography? Contact Jean Garr (jean@jgmarathon.com) if you have any questions! The Marathon gives you the chance to strut your stuff on Sunday. You might want to stay for the Sunday Pro-Choreography challenge too - watch your favorite instructors compete against each other for the "most popular dance of the weekend" title!
This is the event to meet old dance friends and make new ones from all over the world. We hope to see you there this year too!
